Flavoxate is a smooth-muscle relaxant that reduces muscle spasms of the bladder and urinary tract. Flavoxate helps to reduce the leaking of urine, feelings of needing to urinate right away, frequent trips to the bathroom, and bladder pain.
These bladder symptoms are often caused by overactive bladder, prostate enlargement, bladder infections, or irritation of the urethra.
Flavoxate will not treat a bladder infection. Infections must be treated with an antibiotic.

Indications:
• Painful urination
• Frequent or urgent urination
• Increased night-time urination
• Bladder pain
• Incontinence (urine leakage).

Side effects:
• Nausea
• Visual impairment
• Vomiting
• Dry mouth
• Gastric pain and upset stomach (dyspepsia)

Cautions:
• Allergic to flavoxate hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
• Gastrointestinal disease
• Gastro-intestinal bleeding
• Muscular inability to swallow (achalasia)
• Not able to completely empty your bladder (urinary retention)
• Treated for an eye disease called glaucoma
• Urinary tract disease

Interactions:
• Opioid pain
• Cough relievers (such as codeine, hydrocodone)
• Alcohol
• Cannabis
• Alprazolam, lorazepam, zolpidem
• Carisoprodol, cyclobenzaprine
Cetirizine, diphenhydramine

How to use:
Adults: One tablet three times a day for as long as required.
Pediatric: Urispas tablets are not recommended for children under 12 years of age.
